Soundscape Featured at Poligonal Festival in Santiago

A sound capsule titled “Ecotonos” was featured at the “Poligonal: dialogues between art and science” festival, held at the Museo Taller from October 7 to 11, 2025. This capsule was created as a collaboration between Gabriel Morales and Felipe Otondo, based on various types of periodic sound recordings made in Chile’s Los Ríos Region and the Andean Araucanía. It includes diverse bird sounds native to southern Chile as well as the central zone. The work was presented in the Museo Taller´s inner courtyard through headphones, which users wore as they walked along a small native forest trail on the premises.

Poligonal is an annual art and science gathering organized by Chile’s Fundación Mar Adentro (FMA), which promotes transdisciplinary dialogue around socio-ecological issues. The free event focuses on a specific theme each year and brings together artists, scientists, and researchers in a shared space. The activities of Poligonal include talks, sound experiences, and screenings, with the aim of generating reflection and awareness on current issues, using art and science as common languages. This gathering is part of FMA’s initiatives to connect art and science, promoting learning and action for the care of nature.
