Makuta at UC Electroacoustic Music Festival

Makuta, a work by Chilean composer and sound artist Felipe Otondo, was presented at the 11th UC Electroacoustic Music Festival, organised by the Institute of Music of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

The festival took place from 26 to 29 May 2026 at the UC East Campus Extension Centre in Santiago. This edition received 48 submissions, from which 13 acousmatic or audiovisual works and five mixed works were selected. Makuta was included in the Electroacoustic and Audiovisual category and programmed as part of the festival’s third concert.

Composed in 2024, Makuta combines soundscape recordings with synthesised sounds and rhythms. The piece proposes an electroacoustic journey shaped by the contrast between environmental materials, rhythmic textures and timbral transformations.
