Valdivian Coast Field Recording
On Friday, 19 June, soundscape recordings were carried out at the Punta Curiñanco Coastal Protected Area in collaboration with students Nicolás Montes and Gera Leal.
Located on the coast of Valdivia, north of the village of Curiñanco, the Punta Curiñanco Coastal Protected Area protects a transitional landscape between the Valdivian temperate rainforest and the Pacific Ocean. The area includes olivillo forests, coastal vegetation, wetlands and rocky shorelines, creating an environment of high ecological and sonic richness.
Its biodiversity includes species associated with both the temperate rainforest and the coast, alongside birds, mammals and environmental sounds shaped by the interaction of wind, waves, vegetation and local fauna. This makes Punta Curiñanco a particularly significant place for exploring, recording and understanding the changing coastal soundscape of southern Chile.
